Just snagged myself a used 2022 Mini Cooper SE, and let me tell you, jumping into the electric vehicle scene has been quite the ride! But hey, I've got a couple of head-scratchers I'm hoping someone can help me out with. So, I tried fast charging, but it seems like I gotta babysit the car coz the charging stops as soon as I lock it. Is that normal? And then there's the slow charging bit – it only tops up to 80%. Is that a feature, or am I just not getting something here?

Try plugging it into a different outlet. Even if it means running a cord temporarily indoors for testing purposes, it could give you a clearer picture. But I'd definitely recommend getting it checked out by a Mini specialist. They can do a comprehensive diagnosis and pinpoint the exact issue.

Hey, congrats on the Mini SE! For fast charging, it shouldn’t stop when you lock the car, normally, it should keep charging whether it’s locked or unlocked. Maybe try another fast charger to see if it’s the charger or the car. As for the 80% thing, that’s likely a setting to preserve battery health. Check your charging settings to see if you can change the limit to go up to 100%. Hope this helps!

Welcome to the EV world! I had similar questions when I got my SE. Fast charging shouldn’t stop when you lock the car, so that might be a glitch—maybe try updating the software or ask your dealer. As for the 80% cap, that’s a common setting for EVs to help maintain battery health over time. You can adjust the charge limit in the app or settings to go up to 100% if you need the extra range. EVs can be a bit quirky at first, but once you get the hang of it, you’ll love it! 😎

I had my fair share of hiccups when I first got my SE too. For fast charging, it should keep going even if it’s locked, so if it’s stopping, there could be a small glitch. Try a different fast charger, and if the issue persists, a quick dealer check-up might be in order. The 80% cap is pretty common in EVs to protect the battery, but you should be able to change that to 100% in the app if you prefer. Hang in there, it’s a bit of a learning curve, but you’ll get there!

Welcome to the electric side! The quirks can be a bit confusing at first, but we’ve all been there! With fast charging, it’s actually supposed to continue even if you lock it, so if it stops charging when you lock the car, it’s either a glitch or maybe an issue with that specific charger. Try a different one, or if you’re still seeing this, a quick call to the dealer might be helpful. As for the 80% charging cap, that’s a feature designed to help extend the battery’s life, many EVs cap at 80% by default to reduce wear. You can usually change it in your charging settings or the Mini app. Stick with it, once you get used to the flow, the SE is a ton of fun!
