Hey folks! Super stoked to be getting my hands on an electric Cooper S Level 2! But here’s the thing - I’m an EV virgin. Had a petrol Cooper S years ago, now back with electric. Home charger’s getting installed tomorrow, and the car’s rolling in soon. Got any tips for a rookie like me? Things you wish you knew when you first went EV? Ways to save a few bucks along the way? Hit me up with your best advice!

Thanks. Alexi

Hey! Look into affordable energy plans like Octopus Go or Intelligent for better rates. Always keep your car charged just in case and download apps like Zap-Map to help find charging stations. If you're planning to charge frequently away from home, consider signing up for the Tesla network, it’s usually cheaper but if that's not an option find networks that work best for you. Some are more reliable than others like Osprey and Ionity, for example.

And most importantly, don't rely on the range estimate it can be way off. Switch to seeing your battery percentage instead of miles for a much clearer picture as the range tends to fluctuate a lot

Hey Rookie! :)

Congrats on the electric Cooper S, welcome to the quiet, torque-filled side. First off, Charge off-peak to save cash, precondition in winter, and embrace range anxiety like a thrilling video game.

Don’t forget: regen braking = free energy, you should do great..

And lastly if you have any question, any at all...this forum is the place to be.

Oh man, that’s some solid advice! I had zero clue about those energy plans, definitely gonna dive into that. And I’m all in on the battery percentage thing too, way more sense than stressing over range!

Haha, thanks! I’m all about that quiet torque and I’m excited to experience it. Off-peak charging sounds like a no-brainer. I'll be sure to set my charging schedule to make the most of it.

Preconditioning in winter is a solid tip too. And regen braking = free energy? Ohh, I’m definitely going to play around with that.

Appreciate the warm welcome! Keep the advice coming, I’m soaking it all in.

Got any tips for app setup or managing that first drive? I’m curious if there’s anything I should do in the first few days that might make my life easier later on!

For quick trips around the neighborhood, I don't keep the battery at 100%. I let it go down, because I think it's better for it to go through different charge levels. Makes it last longer, I think.
