Hello!

Just wanted to share my experience getting my SE service these days. I had to get a software recall done, which I had to specifically ask about because they didn't mention it when I booked the appointment.

When I first got my car three years ago, the service cost was around $220 to $250, so I was surprised to see it jump to nearly $320! I didn't opt for a service contract since I am skeptical about their value.

I dropped my car off early, around 8 am, expecting a full-day job for the upgrade. To my surprise, I got a call at 10:30 saying it was ready for pickup! All my settings were wiped, but thankfully, I had saved them on a USB stick from the last update, so it was easy to restore.

Interestingly, I dropped it off with 95% SOC, and the range jumped from the usual 110 miles to 135 miles (I am not optimistic it will hold, but it would be great if it would).

On the plus side, the brake wear was only at 40% after nearly 25K miles, with the rear brakes showing slightly more wear. They needed to change the brake fluid, too.

Overall, I am enjoying this car more than most of my others, and considering I haven't spent that much in these three years, that's a plus.

So, this is my experience with servicing the car for the first time. I hope this would be helpful for someone! Have a great one!

It sounds like a bit of a surprise with the service cost and the quick turnaround. I’d love to know what they did for your first service, did they replace anything besides the pollen filter and brake fluid?

You should change your brake fluid every two years, even if the brake pads look fine. Software updates can sometimes cause problems, so it's best to have them done during the day. The service pack is a good deal if you plan on keeping your Mini for a long time.
