Loving my new Mini Electric overall, but the range is seriously disappointing. Just did a 152 - mile trip that required 3 charging stops, turning a usual 3-4 hour drive into 11-12 hours. I'm only getting around 50-60 miles per charge, which seems way off. Is this normal, or could I have a bad battery?

For reference, I drive conservatively, rarely use climate control to save juice, and it's not much better in the city either. Is this normal or should I get the battery checked?

Curious how long you've had your Mini. Even in winter, I can usually squeeze out at least a mile per 1% battery around town, and more on highway runs.

Have you checked your tire pressure lately? That can definitely affect range.

Also, to get a better idea of what might be affecting your range, could you tell me what your battery % was before each of the 3 charging stops?

having some trouble with the range, that's very annoying. Most EVs often have less range than their stated EPA ratings, especially in colder weather or when driving conditions change. but having only 50 to 60 miles per charge seems pretty low. It's mostly them beefing up the number for good marketing. It might be a good idea to call your dealership to see if the battery has any new information or problems. You could also do a range test: charge your Mini all the way up and see how far it goes in the same conditions. it takes time, but it's part of troubleshooting this.

That’s a bummer! I’ve heard a few people mention similar issues with range in the Mini Electric, and it can be a bit of a head-scratcher. Have you checked if there are any battery management settings or updates? 🤔 Sometimes, software tweaks can help improve performance. It might also help to keep an eye on your driving habits, like gentle acceleration and avoiding heavy use of power-hungry features. It could be an interesting case to dive into! If it continues, definitely consider having the battery checked.

I totally get where you’re coming from; range anxiety is real! While the Mini Electric can have some range variability, your experience seems a bit extreme. Have you considered charging habits? If you’re mainly using public chargers, the output can vary a lot, which might affect your range. You might also want to take a look at the tire pressure or even check if you’ve got any power-draining apps running in the background.

If it persists, definitely have that battery checked. I’m rooting for you to get those miles back up! 💪

Driving for hours and not getting far is such a drag. It’s normal for some EVs to struggle with range, but you shouldn’t have to stop that much. Have you tried looking at your driving patterns or even adjusting your driving style? And if the weather has been cold, that can definitely impact the battery too.

I’d say definitely get in touch with a dealer if it doesn’t improve; you might have a battery that needs some attention. hopefully, it’s just a minor hiccup! 🙏
