Anyone else looking at the Mini Advanced Car Eye 3.0? Mini dash cam fitting at the dealership is costly! Expensive estimate just for fitting?! It was INSANE! Guess I'll be a DIYer on this one.

While I was there, I also inquired about mud flaps. Apparently, only fronts are available (or maybe they just can't fit the rears they have?). Thinking aftermarket for that too. Anyone with DIY dash cam or mud flap experience on a Mini?

Yeah, the dealership prices for fitting the Mini Advanced Car Eye 3.0 are steep! Honestly, the installation isn’t that hard if you’re comfortable doing a bit of DIY, there are guides online for running the wiring and setting it up. As for the mud flaps, the front ones are easier to fit, but you’ll probably need to go aftermarket for the rear. Some aftermarket options come with all four, and installation isn’t too tricky either, just a bit of drilling. Just be sure of the holes before punching through. 👌

No question about it. Your experience with the dealership's pricing was exactly the same as mine! In the end, I decided to install my dash cam on my own; I followed a guide on YouTube, and the process wasn't too difficult. It took me about two hours, but I was able to save a bunch of money. In terms of the mud flaps, I purchased aftermarket versions for both the front and the rear. It was necessary for me to perform some drilling on the rears, but they fit very well. Totally worth it in the end! 😁

What crazy prices do dealerships charge for something as simple as putting in a dash cam? Once I saw how much it would cost, I was shocked and decided to do it myself. It took me a little longer than I thought it would, but it is possible. They came from 3rd party sellers, like the mud flaps, and there have been no problems with them yet. People seem to think that Mini is pretty picky about the accessories they sell. DIY is the way to go! 😎

those dealership estimates for fitting are no joke! The Mini Advanced Car Eye 3.0 can be installed at home without too much hassle, especially if you’re handy with wiring. There are a few good step-by-step guides that make it easier. As for the mud flaps, it seems like Mini only does the front ones officially, but you can find aftermarket options for both front and rear. I’ve installed both on mine, front was a breeze, rear took a bit of extra work, but totally worth it to save on the fitting costs. Takes time 😫
