Hey, I’m having a bit of a struggle with my charging setup, and I’m wondering if anyone else has run into this issue, or if I’m just doing something wrong.

Here’s what happens: I’ve got a Zappi charger set to “Eco” mode, and I’m on the Octopus Go tariff. When I plug my Mini in, it seems to start this weird back-and-forth:

  • The Mini detects a charge and alerts Octopus.
  • Octopus plans a charging schedule and tells the Mini to stop charging.
  • The Zappi then displays “EV is Full,” and the Mini says, “Vehicle is not charging.”
At this point, the Mini app shows strange charge times that I never set (like 04:00–10:00), which I assume come from Octopus Go. But the times in the Octopus app don’t always match the Mini app settings.

To make things even more confusing, I’ve tried overriding the system by setting the Mini to “Charge Immediately,” which sometimes works, but occasionally the Mini app errors out. When that happens, I have to unplug and reconnect everything to get charging started again.

I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling the apps, updating everything, and rechecking the settings, but I can’t seem to escape this “Octopus Dance.” Has anyone else figured out how to make these systems play nice together?

It appears that there are conflicts between the Octopus Go schedule, the Mini app, and the Zappi charger, particularly when using the "Charge Immediately" options. Try changing the settings on your Mini app to be in sync with Octopus's scheduled times.

The communication between the Mini and Zappi became a little disorganized when I experienced a similar problem with my Octopus Go tariff and Zappi charger. It appears that Octopus, Zappi, and the Mini's app are causing scheduling issues.

My solution was to manually override the charge time using the Zappi charger and change the charging settings on the Mini app to prevent automated scheduling.

Additionally, I discovered that using the Octopus app to create a regular schedule rather than depending on the "Eco" mode helped to clarify some of the misunderstanding. I found that manually controlling the charge times resolved the back-and-forth, however it would take some trial and error to get them synced properly.
