Got a ‘20 SE Level 3 with about 32k miles on it. After a recall for a battery calibration, the update totally messed things up. The range went haywire (now it’s stuck at 82 miles), and the screens went black (except for the iDrive). The dealer tried a “battery reset,” but nada, and they claim it’s just a coincidence that the car’s acting weird.

I hit up the place I bought it from, and they think the update got messed up and should be covered under warranty.

Now, the dashboard arrows won’t stop flashing 24/7, even when the car’s off.

The dealer’s booked out a month, so anyone else dealt with this or got any advice?

Sounds like a botched software update not just a coincidence. The range issue and black screens scream firmware corruption and if the dealer’s “battery reset” did nothing, that’s even more reason to push for a proper reflash under warranty.

Since they’re booked out for a month try calling other Mini dealers nearby, some might have sooner availability or at least confirm if other owners have had similar post-recall issues.

Meanwhile, a 12V battery disconnect for 15+ minutes might trigger a reboot (just be aware it’ll reset settings). But if the dashboard arrows are flashing nonstop even when off, that sounds like a bigger software glitch or low-voltage battery issue. Might be worth checking 12V battery health too since a weak one can cause all sorts of weird behavior after updates.
