I have a weird issue with my 2023 SE. Washed it, parked it in my shop for a few weeks, and when I went to move it brakes felt totally locked! Gave it some juice and there was a big SNAP, like everything broke free. Then for a few miles, weird noises with regen braking... but everything seems fine now. Anyone else experience this after storage? Shop's definitely heated, so freezing shouldn't be a culprit.

That's normal. Even non-electric cars experience that especially if it's sitting parked for a while. It should smooth out after you're using it.

that’s actually pretty common, especially after washing and parking for a while. It sounds like a bit of surface rust might have formed on the brake rotors, which can make the pads stick. That big snap you heard was probably them breaking free. I’ve had it happen on mine after just a few days in the garage, and it’s usually nothing to worry about as long as the noise goes away after driving a bit. Just be sure to give it a quick drive around the block after a wash next time, or even just let it dry off before parking! 😉

That snap sound would definitely freak me out! But it sounds like a classic case of the brakes sticking after sitting for a while, especially after washing it. Even in a heated shop, moisture can still cause a little surface rust on the rotors, which is why they felt locked. I’ve had a similar issue after a few days of not driving. If the noises are gone and it’s braking fine now, you should be good, but I’d keep an eye on it.

Maybe next time, take a quick spin after washing just to dry off the brakes before parking it!

Oh man, I had the same thing happen to me! Washed mine, left it in the garage for like two weeks, and when I went to drive, it felt like the brakes were glued in place. I had to press the accelerator a bit harder than usual, and there was a loud pop, just like you said. Took it for a drive, and it was fine after a few miles. From what I’ve learned, it’s probably the rotors getting a little surface rust from the moisture, especially after washing.

A quick drive after a wash seems to help avoid it!

that’s totally normal, especially if the car’s been sitting for a bit or right after a wash. That snap is just your brakes breaking free from a bit of rust buildup. I had the exact same thing happen to me last winter, and I’ll admit, it freaked me out at first! But as long as the noise goes away after driving a bit, it’s nothing to worry about.

Next time, maybe just take it for a quick spin after washing to dry everything out. Sounds like everything’s back to normal, so no biggie!
