Anyone else living in an apartment complex with their car parked directly under their building? I'm on the hunt for a windshield sun shade that won't blind my neighbors when the sun hits it. All the ones I've seen are like mirrors! I need something to keep my car cool without turning it into a disco ball.

I had the same issue with my sunshade, and it was blinding my neighbors every morning. Got a bit of scolding from their elders a few weeks ago. 😅 I ended up going with a non-reflective fabric one from WeatherTech, and it’s been relatively good since. Not only does it keep the car cool during those hot days, but it also doesn’t bounce the sunlight into everyone’s windows, which the whole reason anyway. They’re a bit more expensive than the basic shiny ones, but honestly, the extra cost is worth avoiding awkward stares from your neighbors! It’s durable, so you won’t need to replace it anytime soon. I hope. 🙏

I feel that! 😵 I ran into the same problem. Sun shades out there seem to be super reflective, and most just turn your car into a giant mirror. Rather than keeping the heat out.

I found a great option on Amazon that’s non-reflective and surprisingly affordable. It’s more of a fabric mesh material rather than those aluminum ones, which helps keep the car cool without making it a shiny distraction. I think I paid around $20 to $30, and it works. You don’t need to go super fancy to solve the problem. Definitely worth a look if you want to save a few bucks!

Fabric-Mesh is the way to go, I think. 💪

I had the same issue, and honestly, I couldn’t find anything I liked, so I decided to go the DIY route. 😵

I bought some reflective insulation material from a hardware store and covered it with a dark, matte cloth on the outside. It worked out better than expected, it keeps the car cool, doesn’t blind the neighbors, and I had a bit of fun customizing it. its way cheaper than most of the store-bought options I found.

If you’re into DIY projects, I’d recommend giving it a try. You can make it fit your windshield perfectly, and you won’t have to worry about the glare! ✌

That’s an interesting problem 🤔 I haven’t had that issue yet, but now that you mention it, I’m thinking maybe I should swap out my shiny sunshade too. It does a great job keeping my car cool, but I never considered how annoying the glare might be for people nearby. Like did they scold you directly? I’ve heard good things about sunshades with a matte finish, which could solve both the heat and reflection problem. If you find something that works well, let us know! I might look into a replacement too, especially since I park in a busy area where reflections can be a real nuisance. 😅
