I'm finally ditching the gas guzzler and going electric! I'm looking at a 2021 Mini Cooper and can't wait to make the switch. But I'm a bit overwhelmed by all the EV stuff. I'm thinking about getting a home charger, but the cost is a bit scary. Would a regular 3-pin plug work in a pinch?

And what about electricity suppliers? Is it worth it?

A regular 3-pin plug can work, but it’s slower and less efficient. For faster charging, I think a dedicated home charger is a good investment. Many suppliers offer EV packages, and some, like British Gas, even include perks like free electricity for a year with certain chargers. It’s worth looking into depending on whether you plan to add things like solar panels or storage later.

Agree. Same on mine. Cheap charging and energy shifting = 12p/kWh. Just a regular plug at home.
