I’ve got a Mini Electric (71 plate) with adaptive cruise control, and while I absolutely love how it handles most of the driving for me, it’s been acting up in ways that are pretty frustrating.

There are times when it completely misses the car in front and just keeps going like it’s not even there. Other times, it randomly turns itself off without any warning. I’ve taken it to the dealership, and after three months, they basically told me everything is “working within parameters.” Not exactly the answer I was hoping for.

Has anyone else run into similar issues with their adaptive cruise? Did your dealer give you a fix, or is this just something we have to deal with? I’m curious if this is common or if my car just needs more attention.

The Mini’s adaptive cruise often struggles with glare, weather, or dirt, causing missed cars or disengagements. It’s a camera-only limitation. You can use basic cruise by holding a distance button to improve reliability.

In various weather conditions, my Mini's adaptive cruise control has proven unstable. When there is a lot of rain, snow, or fog, it will suddenly turn off. Even when standard cruise control is used, the system may shut down at any time. It's both frustrating and dangerous.

But somehow, it is normal... I mean, the feature relies on the cameras, and it is almost impossible for them not to be affected by the weather. I don't even think the adaptive cruise has been created for "all-weather".
