Hey there, got a quick question for ya – does pre-conditioning actually boost range? I just got my SE last month and I'm all about squeezing out more miles since driving home from my mom’s place gives me major range anxiety!

In my experience, preconditioning the battery during the winter reduced it significantly, using about 15%. IMO, it's best to precondition while plugged into a charger.

I've noticed that preconditioning can use a lot of power at first. I watched the power usage and saw it spike to 7kW when the car was already charged, then drop to 3.5kW. So, preconditioning can use a lot of power at first, which might affect your range a little bit.

Yes, pre-conditioning can help... It warms up the battery before driving, improving efficiency and range. It’s a great way to maximize those miles, especially on longer trips.

Pre-conditioning helps, but it’s not a magic fix for range anxiety. It mostly improves efficiency in colder weather by keeping the battery at its ideal temp. If you’re already driving in mild conditions, you probably won’t see a huge jump in range. But if it’s freezing? Definitely worth using.

You're wondering about preconditioning on your Mini Cooper SE right? Good question it's definitely a feature. Think of it like this when it's super cold it's like putting on a warm-up jacket for your battery. Keeps it toasty, which helps you get better range and faster charging.

Where do you live? Because if you're in a place where it's sunny and warm most of the time you probably won;t see a huge difference in range from preconditioning alone. Have you tried using it in different weather conditions? What kind of range changes have you noticed?
