Why the hell are my tires rated for 168 MPH?

I'm looking at tires for my SE, and every website keeps throwing these W-rated tires at me. Like, what gives? My car can't even hit 100mph. Is there some secret tuner scene I don't know about? Someone explain this nonsense to me!

Honestly, I never really paid attention to the tires on my MINI. I had to replace all of them after one went flat, and figured it was a good time to replace them all. I just went with the same tires that came with the car from the factory.

Tires with higher speed ratings, like W-rated, are often marketed for performance or safety, even if your car doesn’t reach those speeds. They're just more durable..

yeah, exactly! Even if you're not hitting those speeds, it gives added safety and peace of mind. Definitely worth considering
