I'm a short driver (around 5ft tall) and looking for some advice on airbags. While airbags are a safety lifesaver, having the seat close to the wheel for proper leg reach can put me right in the airbag deployment zone. I've read that airbags can actually be more dangerous for shorter drivers in certain seating positions.

Is there a way to safely deactivate the driver's airbag in my car (make and model would be helpful if that matters)? If not, any tips on finding the best seating position to balance safety with proper control of the vehicle? Thanks!

It seems like shorter people might be at a slightly higher risk of airbag injuries. Since they're closer to the steering wheel, they're also closer to the airbag when it deploys. And the closer you are, the more force it can hit you with.
Of course, this is just for drivers. I'm sure the situation is different for passengers.
