Is there a way to precondition my car using grid power while plugged in, without charging the battery? I don't need to charge daily and would rather use the grid for preconditoining in these cold temps (-5°C). I'm looking for any tricks or settings that might allow this. Thanks in advance

Someone recommended preconditioning the battery while it's unplugged and charging more often, but I’m trying to avoid that since it reduces range and increases charging cycles.

I see what you mean. Would be cool if enough people suggested it and they added it. Just had a thought, what if you set the charge time for when you’re unplugged and then hit the fan precondition for departure?

You need to set your charging limit to exactly where your current battery level is, then schedule preconditioning.
The car will use grid power for heating but won't charge the battery since it is already at the max level.

What I have found is if I plug in around 15-20 min prior to departure it will use most of the energy to warm the battery and cabin vs charging the battery. I love these cars and I think the simplicity is what helps it be the most reliable EV. However, it would sure be nice to have a software update to have more control over the charging system. The ability to charge to 80 or 90% would also be nice..
