I’ve taken my Mini Cooper EV out in some pretty serious snow, and I was pleasantly surprised! The low center of gravity due to the battery pack helps with stability, but like any small car, you’ll want to be cautious on ice. I’d recommend getting a good set of winter tires if you’re in an area that gets heavy snow. With the right tires, it performs way better than I expected. But still, you gotta be careful. Winter is always unforgiving for everyone.

I live in a snowy region too, and I can tell you that snow tires make all the difference. It is a requirement for any winter weather. The Mini Cooper EV handles snow decently for a smaller car, but its stock tires aren’t really meant for winter weather. I invested in a set of winter tires, and it’s been a game-changer. As long as you’re not dealing with super deep snow, it should do just fine! Winter is cruel to everyone, so even if you have winter tires, you have got to be careful! 100%!

One thing to keep in mind is how regenerative braking reacts in icy conditions. You WILL get surprised by it, you can't escape this. You will feel the jolts if you're not focused and aware of it. It can feel a little abrupt on slick roads, so I tend to dial it down or switch it off when it’s really slippery outside. Other than that, the Mini EV is pretty steady in snow, especially with winter tires. Better to have winter tires, than to slip and crash.

I’ve driven mine in snowy conditions a few times, and while it handles decently, the ground clearance can be an issue if the snow is too deep. If you're unsure, just stop and park somewhere safe. It’s not like a truck or SUV that can plow through thick snow. as long as you’re sticking to safe plowed roads or light snow, the Mini Cooper EV does pretty well. Just don’t push it through snowdrifts! Mini's are heavy, but still not THAT heavy.
