Good day, drivers! I have this issue: whenever I open the driver's side to let someone out, the whole system powers down, and I have to restart everything to get the Heads-up display back up. Is there a way to open the door without triggering a shutdown? It feels a bit unnecessary to have the HUD go down every time. Any tips to keep everything running smoothly while letting passengers out? And I know "ignition" is not the perfect term for us. Thanks in advance for any insight!

I have this trick that might work for you. If you keep your seatbelt fastened while opening the door, it should prevent the system from shutting down. At least, that's been the case with mine. For a quick workaround, you could also buckle the passenger seatbelt into your own seatbelt slot before opening the door; it should have the same effect. But note this, though! I would avoid using a seatbelt extender to keep things running down. Some people use them for this issue, but it is not ideal since it might interfere with the car's safety systems. Hope this helps!

For a permanent fix, I would check with your MINI dealership. I hope they know how to play around the settings so it doesn’t shut down when the door opens.
