-Hello everyone, ever since my last family road trip, I've been planning our future family trips and im currently looking for routes that will allow us to charge our cars without too much of a hassle. Due to charging stations that we overlooked on our recent recent, it went quite well but it was a real pain in the ass. Now that we are set for another trip, I'm just making sure that our car will be able to follow our itinerary and make the most out of this vacation. Should we be more concerned? I was simply thinking if I should make more stops or just take the chance and find some hotels or Wallmart that is en route to our destination because this time we are going on an adventure.

What you're doing is right. Plan your trip properly and make sure to search up charging stations that you could pass by along the way. Since you've already experienced doing road trips, you already have the knowledge on what you should do.

Agree with @whisperenforcer. Also make sure that your tires are properly inflated. With that, it can help maintain your car's optimal range.

For EV trips, planning ahead with charging stops definitely makes things smoother. Apps like PlugShare or A Better Routeplanner can help map out chargers on your route, including ones at hotels or major spots like Walmart. If you can, aim for places where you can charge overnight, it’ll save you time and give you more flexibility during the day.

I just did a road trip in my Mini EV, and I’d definitely suggest planning a bit more for charging. I used PlugShare to find chargers near hotels and rest stops along the way, which helped us avoid any surprises. Checking the reviews on charging spots in advance can also help you know what to expect. Having a few extra planned stops is a good idea, better safe than sorry, especially if you're headed somewhere more remote. Hope it’s an awesome adventure for you and the fam! 😍

I had similar worries before my first big EV road trip. If you want to keep things hassle-free, pre-planning your stops at spots like Walmart or hotels with chargers is a smart move. You might also want to grab a charging app or two, like PlugShare, that lets you see real-time availability. And honestly, having a few “just-in-case” charging stops in mind never hurts. Once you get into the rhythm of planning, it feels much easier. Happy travels and enjoy the Mini EV adventure!

My advice? Definitely plan out your main charging stops in advance, especially at hotels or destinations with overnight charging, nothing better than waking up to a full battery! Apps like A Better Routeplanner can help you map the best route with charging stops that won’t take you too far off track. And don’t stress too much if you need an extra stop here or there, sometimes having a buffer stop can make things less stressful. It sounds like you’re on top of things, and I hope this trip is even smoother than the last. Have a great adventure with the fam! 😎
