I’m based in the U.S. and seriously considering getting an Electric MINI Cooper S, probably a 2021 model. I’ve never owned an EV before, so I’m diving into the research, trying to understand what to expect and how to make this transition. My previous ride was a Focus ST, but I’m hoping an EV will save me a bit on fuel and maintenance.

Here’s what I’ve figured out so far:

Insurance costs seem pretty comparable to my ST.
I’d save around $400 a year on tax.
I used to spend about $250 a month on gas, so I’m looking forward to the potential savings with an EV!

As for charging, I’m debating installing a home charger (which I heard could cost around $1,500), but I’m also looking into public options like the ChargePoint Network. Does anyone here rely on ChargePoint, or do you have thoughts on their reliability and ease of use?

A home charger is cool, but you don't always need one, especially if there are public chargers around. Think about how much you drive and if there are chargers nearby. If you do get a home charger, check for local deals and discounts to save money.
