airbag safety short people problem

I'm a short driver (around 5ft tall) and looking for some advice on airbags. While airbags are a safety lifesaver, having the seat close to the wheel for proper leg reach can put me right in the airbag deployment zone. I've read that airbags can actually be more dangerous for shorter drivers in certain seating positions.

Is there a way to safely deactivate the driver's airbag in my car (make and model would be helpful if that matters)? If not, any tips on finding the best seating position to balance safety with proper control of the vehicle? Thanks!

You don't need to disable it. You can try installing pedal extenders, that could help you.

Agree with @lolo_sir 's suggestion. If you do that, the car's check engine light will come on, making the airbags useless.
