Loving BimmerCode for my car tweaks (not sure if I can mention their name), but the backup system is a bit cryptic! The file names with similar sizes and repeating characters seem to point to specific control units, but there's no way to tell which is which without keeping detailed notes. Guessing a full restore and redo is the only option then?

Also, wondering if anyone's tried changing a setting again directly (without restoring) after a basic update like disabling alarms. The BimmerCode messages suggest a restore, but maybe a direct change works too?

Hey everyone, quick question – are BimmerLink and BimmerCode the same program, or does one have more features than the other? I'm trying to figure out which one would be better for me.

The BimmerLink and BimmerCode are different, so the BimmerCode is for coding custom features, while BimmerLink focuses on diagnostics and live data. Figure out which is best for your needs..

If you messed something up and need to start over, a full restore is an option, but it's usually overkill. You can often just fix the specific thing you changed without wiping everything clean.

Just be careful, because sometimes those changes can clash with other settings.

It's always a good idea to write down or take screenshots of what you've changed. That way, if things go wrong, you know exactly what to fix.
