Hello everyone! I have a quick question. Does charging speed get lower in cold weather? I mean, I used a DC charging station this morning I usually use, and the charging speed was lower by almost 50%. Any thoughts?

Weird. Same charger, same spot, but the charging speed went from 47kW one day to 27kW the next. Only difference? It was way colder the second time. At least the charger’s at a gas station, so I grabbed a snack and reminded myself why I usually avoid their food. I’ll be back soon, let’s see if the charging speed decides to warm up with the weather next time

Cold weather can slow down EV charging. Preconditioning helps (if your car has it). Cold batteries take longer to warm up for optimal charging.
