Mini serviced this weekend. Had to ask for the software update! First service two years ago was crazy expensive, so I skipped the contract. They said it'd be all day, but it was done by 10:30! Settings wiped, but I had a backup. Range jumped from 103 to 140 miles—doubt it. Brakes only 30% worn after 20k miles, rears a bit more. Why the brake fluid flush after two years? Felt like upselling. Two years/20k miles ownership costs are high, but I love driving it. Wife spent double on gas for the same mileage! Old EV never needed service. No battery degradation on this one, and I prefer it to the new Mini, so I'm keeping it.

Two years in, 20K miles, and zero battery degradation that’s a solid win for the Mini EV! But that brake fluid flush sounds like a money grab unless they showed you actual contamination. And the range jump from 103 to 140 miles? That’s gotta be a recalibrated estimate rather than an actual efficiency boost.

That range increase is exaggerated but any improvement is a positive sign. The brake fluid flush seems like an unnecessary expense and service costs can be high depending on the dealer and what they try to upsell.

Yeah, the brake fluid flush probably wasn’t needed unless they actually found contamination, but it does feel like they’re trying to pad the bill. The range increase is probably just the system recalculating, not actual magic. At least your Mini is still fun to drive, though!
