I'm thinking about getting a Mini Cooper E. I'm wondering if I can add an aftermarket amp to it. Will this affect the car's sound system, like the fake engine noise?

The sound quality is better than before, but it's hard to upgrade the sound system. We don't know where the sound is generated or where the speakers are. If the sound is generated digitally, replacing the speakers might not help. It's going to be tough to upgrade the sound system.

So, let me know if I understand it right. Do you want to hear the fake engine noise louder? I think no amp will do it, no matter if it is aftermarket or original.

You will be okay if the generated sound is produced and then piped into the sound system, but that is unlikely as it is most likely a component of an integrated amplifier. In that case, replacing it with aftermarket speakers will eliminate the generated sounds. In most situations, that might be a good thing. I’m curious to know what happens when you try.

Adding an aftermarket amp to your Mini Cooper E is definitely possible, but it could affect the car’s sound system, including the fake engine noise.

The car’s audio system is integrated with various features, so installing an amp may interfere with that balance. I’d recommend consulting a professional installer who can ensure compatibility and prevent issues with the overall system.
